[AboutTheCharacter]
Full Name: Dylan James Kelley Age: 17 PB: Chad Michael Murray Mental Condition/Disorder: Multi-Personality Disorder
Personality: Dylan, when Dylan, appears to be your average teenage jerk. He's thingyy, with confidence that boarders on arrogance. Laid back and easy going, those who manage to look past his thingyy exterior and his smoking habit know he makes a fun friend. His romantic life is anything but steady, and for the most part he likes it that way. Talking to people is easy for him, and he doesn't mind making new acquaintances.
Dylan's confidence is not an act. He is very sure of himself when it comes to most situations. His biggest problem is his fear of commitment, which was established early on in his life. Thinking isn't something he likes to do much of, which is why his GPA is around a B average. He is naturally intelligent, especially in Math and English, but doesn't bother to apply himself. Dylan also lacks the willpower to quite smoking and can't stand being around dogs.
When Dylan is not Dylan, his reactions to most situations varry greatly. The only characteristic that ever remains a constant is his fear of dogs. Otherwise, Dylan's multipersonality disorder causes him to become completely different people. Besides his main Dylan persona, he has three other personalitys that fight for controll of his body. Dylan is the one that is most often in control, but depending on the situation any of the other three can appear at any time.
Christopher Martin, or Chris the Coward, is the first of these other three personalities. When Chris, Dylan suffers from boarderline paranoia. He becomes very jumpy, ready to bolt at every odd little noise of sight. He often stammers and avoids human contact, preferring to wallow in his own terror. Twice while Chris Dylan attempted suicide, and Chris is the most harmful personality towards Dylan himself.
Devon Michaels is the least harmful of Dylan's personalities, as well as the least extreme. While Dylan is thingyy and smug, Devon is sweet and helpful. You'll find in Devon the reliable, friendly, kind, good boy that isn't present in Dylan. Devon is Dylan's only personality that wont smoke or drink, and is also the only one that could possibly hold a steady relationship. Unfortunately, the quietest personality, Devon is also the one that appears least often.
Finally, there is Ryan Peterson. Ryan is by far the worst of all Dylan's personalities. Violent, angry, and a bit sadistic, if Ryan was almost always in control Dylan would probably also be a pyromaniac. Ryan's the type that will hit someone for fun, and brought Dylan really close to killing a kid when he was 12. Causing chaos and destruction is a hobby for him, and if he doesn't like your opinion he'll go to extremes to convince you you're wrong.
History: The year was 1988, the place was Las Vegas, Nevada, and spur of the moment decisions aren't always good. Well, so was the case when Sophie Davis decided to marry Thomas Kelley, a man she'd only known a week. Things were good between the young couple for about fives months. After that, things turned sour simply because it wasn't true love. It was more like intense like that slowly turned to bitter hate the more they got to know each other. They only stayed together because by then Sophie was one and a half months pregnant.
August 11, 1989 was the day Dylan James Kelley decided to come into the world. He was three weeks late and came out crying. Dylan was a difficult child and the first three years of his life he spent terrorizing his parents and adding to the troubles of their already strained relationship.
For eight years Sophie and Thomas put up with each other for the sake of their son. Unfortunately, Dylan spent the first eight years of his life listening to his parents do nothing but scream at each other. About four months after Dylan's eight birthday, Thomas couldn't take it any more. He packed his bags and left, leaving divorce papers and a forwarding address on the kitchen table. Dylan was heartbroken, but he also felt slightly guilty for enjoying the fact that the only yelling going on in the house was when he got in trouble.
The next six years brought financial problems and a move from a middle class house in Nevada to a small, dinky apartment in Seattle, Washington. Three jobs and late shifts kept Dylan away from his mother, but Sophie was willing to try almost anything to make ends meet. She seemed willing to date almost anyone as well, and Dylan disagreed with most of her boyfriend choices. Of course, any kid would dislike random guys who either disliked or ignored him and took up most of his mother's free time. Many of Sophie's relationships also lasted no loner than two months, which reinforced Dylan's idea that long term relationships were not a good thing.
It was also during those six years that Dylan began to exhibit symptoms of multiple personality disorder. When around certain boyfriends of his mother's, he became overly timid and scared. Sometimes he'd come home from school with cuts and bruises without knowing how he got them. His mother always figured he just played to roughly with his friends, and wrote off the names he'd call himself as imaginary friends.
When Dylan was twelve, Tia Peters, a young psyco-analyst, was strolling through the park on her lunch break. She stumbled upon Dylan, who at the time was having a picnic with his mother, and instantly knew something was wrong when he kept insisting his name was Devon while his mother called him Dylan. Calmly she introduced herself to Sophie and asked if she could take a look at Dylan. It was Tia who first suggested Dylan might have some sort of mental disorder, and at her urging it was discovered he suffered from multi-personality disorder.
The next year brought Sophie a boyfriend that managed to last more than a few months, Connor Scott. Connor wasn't a bad guy, and Dylan didn't mind too much when he and his mom moved in together, but Connor's daughter Jacqueline had, and still has, a personality conflict with Dylan. Two years older than Jackie, Dylan does nothing but butt heads with the girl. Several times he's smacked her around as Ryan, and after realizing what he'd done he'd often transform into Chris. It was two of these incidents that nearly had Dylan kill himself.
When Dylan turned fourteen, Ms. Peters recommended he go to the Kailyn Institute. Thankful for a chance to get away from his hectic home life, Dylan gratefully took her up on the suggestion. With some help from Tia, Dylan was accepted to the school for mentally unstalbe teens. He's now in his junior year, still can't stand Jackie, and is kind of glad his mother and Connor never married even though they're still together.
Appearance: Standing at 5’10”, Dylan weighs 163lbs. His hair is dirty blonde in color, and he keeps it shaggy, letting it fall to about his shoulders. His bangs reach past his eyes and usually fall in his line of vision. Blue-green in color, his eyes usually have a half-lidded appearance and hide behind his mane of hair or an occasional pair of sunglasses. He is well toned, the type that likes to stay in shape. Granted, he doesn't go overboard and his body is nice and lean. Not to pale and not to dark, Dylan's skin is a healthy peach color. During the summer months it usually has a nice tan to it. He does his best to keep it blemish free as well, and the only major scar he has is the one on the back of his left heel from a dog bite. He will wear just about anything, as long as it looks good. He's most comfortable in a pair of jeans and some sort of t-shirt, however.
His disabilites have no major effect on his appearance. Certain personalities will cause him to dress differently from normal, though not to extremities. He is always recognizable as Dylan Kelley, despite the aliases he may give out. At least, up until this point in time his personalities haven't caused him to drastically change his appearance.
Other: When Dylan was six his neighbor's dog bit him in the ankle. He's been afraid of dogs ever since then.
Dylan picked up his smoking habit when he was thirteen and has tried, and failed, quitting on three different occasions.
